Véronique Billat’s whole team and Athlete Endurance thank you for your support, you interest, your candidacy and your participation in this scientific event in the 2010 Paris Marathon.
This event is both a human, technical and scientific adventure.
The amount of information and data collected thanks to the 20 testers and to the portable technology will allow us to advance in the approach to training and effort management for upcoming Marathons.
The human challenge was not easy to implement because we know the sacrifice and the constraints which was requested for the use of the equipment during the race and before the race. Many warm thanks for your investment, making you partners of research and of the laboratory.
We are very grateful for those who volunteered but who were not accepted.
Technically speaking, everything went very well, even though as we expected, there were contingencies and imperfections.
We were able to broadcast on the internet the race of each tester equipped with telemetry so that you could experience this event and we were able to identify future requirements and possibilities.
There is a big difference between following a single runner and to record his physiological variables and to record 10 people simultaneously.
The test at this scale also had its function, because the ultimate goal is to move from experimental to routine use.
The data available on the internet for the users was updated every 2,1/2 to 3 minutes and the numerous traffic on our site for this event slowed your reading capacity.
From our side we had the real-time data for each of the runners and it was exciting to follow your adventure live, thank you for letting us enjoy your race.
We will now proceed to analyse the large amount of data collected thanks to the runners and members of the Team who directly or indirectly participated in the project.
Please leave your comments and impressions as testers at the bottom of this page, tell us your race, your experience.
Once again, thank you to all the Team, to all the volunteers and participants.
Congratulations to our Marathon runners.
Véronique Billat and the Laboratory Team.
